Unposed “The Real Reel” Blogcast
“This Ain’t Easy… But It’s Worth It”by Shaun P! of #ThePictopia
Yes, I said "Ain't!" Let’s have a real moment. Not the cute version, not the filtered story, not the scripted testimony. Just truth.
Because sometimes the thing you prayed for will wear you out before it blesses you.Sometimes purpose feels like pressure. Sometimes the door God opens looks like a detour before it looks like destiny.
This season right here? Whew. It’s been a mix of miracles and maybes.
When Pictopia first opened, I thought it would be lights, camera, booked-and-busy. And in many ways, it was. People came, we created magic, and we celebrated creativity in ways I’d only dreamed of.
But then came the quiet bookings. The slow weeks. The “Is this even working?” moments. There were times I sat in that space, just me and the lights, asking God, “Did I miss You?”
And His answer wasn’t always loud. Sometimes it came through a message from a client who said, “I needed this space more than you know.” Sometimes it came through a child dancing in front of the camera, free for the first time in weeks. Sometimes it came through the tears of a woman seeing herself—really seeing herself—in a photo after surviving something nobody else knew about.
That’s when I realized something. This wasn’t just about pictures. This was about purpose. And purpose, my friend, comes with a cost.
See, people celebrate the highlight reel, but very few stay around for the “real reel.” The unpaid invoices. The mental exhaustion. The prayers you pray while holding a mop and wiping down chairs. But God… He sees all of that. And He honors the obedient hustle.
One of my favorite verses says,
“Let us not grow weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” – Galatians 6:9
Can I tell you something? You can be doing well and still feel weary. And that doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human. Kimi would say, "Extend yourself some grace." She is right! It means you’re fighting for something that matters. It means you’re not faking it. It means your “yes” still stands, even when your strength is low.
What keeps and kept me going was remembering why I started. It wasn’t to be famous. It wasn’t even to make a name. It was to create a space where people feel seen, safe, and inspired. Where healing can happen behind the lens. Where a young girl can walk in unsure and walk out unstoppable. Where a business owner can see their brand come to life. Where faith and creativity meet in a room full of light and love.
Pictopia became more than a venue. It became a mirror. Not for vanity, but for vision.
So if you’re in a season where it feels like everything is testing your yes, where your dream feels more like a burden than a blessing, hear me loud and clear:
Don’t give up. Rest if you need to. Cry if you must. Scream even! Pivot when God tells you to. But don’t stop showing up! Because somebody’s healing is waiting on your obedience.
And the version of you that’s coming out of this? Oh, you’re going to thank yourself for not quitting. (This is how I have to talk to my own self. The struggle gets REAL!)
So no, this ain’t easy. But it is absolutely, undeniably, God-ordained worth it.
You got this! We've got this! Let’s keep it real…Life be lifein’… but God be Godin’ too. And the more we share the real, the more we invite others into the reel.
Keep It Real Reel! Love you. Mean It! Smile. Pose. Snap!
